Wayne and I had luncheon with Sister Aline yesterday at The Marie Joseph Spiritual Center. I had met with Sister Aline monthly for non-denominational counseling for almost two years. Sister Aline and the center will always be dear to me.
Before it was a spiritual retreat, the center was the “Ocean View Hotel.”
The main dining room where the nuns and guests dine is very vintage with mid-century Formica dinettes (hidden under the tablecloths) with a homey feel.
There is also a smaller, quieter room…
And a dining area on the porch…
All of which have a stunning view of the grounds and sea.
While we were having lunch this family walked by outside the window. I had never seen baby geese until then.
One of the libraries.
Two large early chalkware statue lamps help illuminate the hallway leading to the chapel. Sister Aline said they have been there since the center first opened.
A very vintage Exit sign.
More information on the center and its offerings can be found on their website. You do not have to be Catholic, or even a Christian, to attend their retreats or use their counseling services, however the center, grounds, and parking lot is only open to guests/clients.
