I love summer mornings like this one. There is so much beauty happening right outside our home. Have a look!
Yes you CAN grow (mini) watermelons in Maine! Last week I posted a photo of a tiny baby, and boy do these babies grow quickly! Because they are minis, exactly how big they will grow before they stop is a mystery.
The vines.
They like to grow up the netting…
And outside of it.
The largest is on the other side also outside of the garden bed.
For scale.
I picked the first Lemon Boy tomato of the season this morning!
The container cabbages.
Something else likes cabbage, too, but it seems like it prefers the outer leaves.
This is Sir “Duck Feet” Claude who, as of last week has moved into late Chippie’s burrow under our deck. I really hope it’s one of her offspring! His back paws look orange in certain lighting, it’s quite cute.
We’re becoming fast friends!
I didn’t notice the grape skin Claude left behind on the ground until after I took this pic of the Master Gardner. The skin is the equivalent of a sandwich crust to a little kid.
Tree stump flowers.
Succulents (Sedums) that I planted last year that come back every year.
They never need any watering other than rain.
Wayne was having fun with his early morning shadow. Happy Friday!
Yes, good morning Friday. Great pictures; thank you for the visit to your backyard paradise.
