Yes. And just as messy: Home grown tomato and mayo sandwiches! Here’s my recipe:
Fresh picked tomatoes, still warm.
Sliced, not too thick, not too thin.
I use Against the Grain gluten-free rolls that come frozen. I let the rolls defrost before lightly toasting them.
They are light and airy yet rich; definitely the best gluten-free rolls out there. Also, there are no gums or artifice in them. I spread one tablespoon of mayo on each sandwich; no more is needed.
Denby pasta bowls work perfectly for these sandwiches, because when you bite into them, the bottom will fill with warm tomato juice mixed with mayo. Perfect for dunking your bread. And, just like eating lobster, you’ll need a towelette for your hands afterward. (It’s not a very good “first date” kind of meal, though!)
