By “it” I mean unofficial winter, but on the positive side the weather is cooperating with early Christmas decorating. We have blustery winds, was in the teens this morning, my car door and trunk were frozen shut and we’re getting 3-5 5-8(!!) inches of snow tomorrow night! Vintage Christmas decorating definitely takes some of the chill out of it for me. To begin, I added some modern lights to my Victorian Fairy Christmas store display soap box. I think the lights look rather retro, almost like an old time marquis.
Last year I placed only pink colored mercury glass ornaments on our tree but this year I wanted to see if I could do all blue.
To do that I had to organize more ornaments by color. Presently I have three storage bins filled with 200+ each, one of which has all pink. The others were a mix. Let’s see…
Red and blue…
More pink…
Green and gold…but not enough blue to make it a theme so we’re going to have gold, green, red and blue this year. Next year I hope to do even more organizing of unsorted ornaments in my basement. Wayne’s mother, RIP, always hung blue ornaments so I want to do that for him in the future.
Bring. It. On. Girl!

Those vintage ornaments are absolutely incredible! This year I am attempting to make all my own ceramic ornaments on the wheel and handbuilt, with mostly a blue and silver colour scheme ‘Under the Sea” theme.

Oh my!! I adore the soap display and all your ornaments. I’m just starting to collect the oldies for Big Silver (our “new” Xmas tree) not quite to your numbers yet, ha!!

Thanks! I collected these one by one over the past eighteen years! You can of course “cheat” and go on ebay but it’s more fun to actually collect them. Be sure to check out your local church rummage sales!

absolutely more fun to collect a few at a time! I caught a big church tag sale in June and carted off a few vintage Xmas treasures- including a couple boxes of ornaments. Cannot WAITTTTTTT!

Our temps got down to 17 degrees… much complaining on my part about that 😉

I still giggle silently when I think of you bundled up when it was like 55 degrees, so cute, ha! So yes, that is cold even for a Mainer like me!

I love the green and gold ornaments. And that is so sweet that you will do all blue for Wayne. Are you going to decorate early this year? Seems like so many people are. I wanted to but I haven’t had the time.

For me this is late. I like to start the day after Halloween as I’ve done for over ten years. With an aluminum tree you can do that! I like to set up over a period of a couple of weeks but everything is away by January 7th. Also, we’re getting up to six inches of snow today, had three inches yesterday and six inches last week so it sure feels like December!!
